Intra-College Debate Competition on "has pandemic led to rise in Substance use" held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the 2nd J&K NCC Girls Battalion, Jammu wing of GCW Udhampur, today organized an Intra-College Debate Competition on the topic "Has pandemic led to the rise in Substance Use".
The event proved to be a jet of awareness for the students, as in view of increasing drug menace, this wonderful initiative taken by GCW, Udhampur was applaudable.
The event started with the host asking about the importance of the day with the students presenting their inputs. Dr. Monika Sharma, Principal, GCW, Udhampur, in her address said, "Drugs, Alcohols and smoking may be a temporary stress reliever but are carcinogenic in long run. It attacks the central nervous system taking you to a mental state where you can no longer think and crave for more drugs" she noted.
The first, second and third positions were bagged by Cadet Neha Sharma, Cadet Shilpa Sharma, Cadet Arushi Sharma, respectively. The event was judged by Prof. Tania Akhter, HOD Department of English, GCW Udhampur and Prof. Mushtaq, HOD, Department of Hindi, GCW Udhampur.
Prominent amongst others present were Prof. Sumita Rao (DSW), Prof. Sanjay Kumar (Staff Secretary), LT (Dr) Kamal Deep Kaur (ANO, NCC, 2 J&K NCC Girls Bn).
Prizes were distributed to the winners. The event was attended by a large number of students and staff of the college making it a great success. At the end everyone learnt to have a healthy diet and stay away from drugs.
